Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate.
• Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

• Creates an educational environment conducive to learning and prepares instructional materials; provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Maintains classroom behavior standards and manages classroom inside and outside the school.
• Assesses student progress on a timetable; provides written and oral progress reports to parents and administrators; administers tests.
• Confers with parents, administrators, specialists, and staff to develop educational programs.
• Creates learning materials tailored to students' abilities and interests.
• Instructs students using strategies to develop sensory, perceptual-motor, language, cognition, and social skills.
• Motivates students and provides ongoing assessment and feedback.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district regulations.
• Assists administration in implementing policies; sponsors student activities and tutoring as requested.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
