School Librarian

St. Edmund's Academy seeks an educator with a passion for books, research, and digital literacy for a School Librarian position. The School Librarian works collaboratively with teachers across all divisions to cultivate a love of reading and to build students' skills as researchers, critical thinkers, and ethical creators and consumers of information.

The School Librarian is responsible for overseeing the library's primary functions, including the evaluation, selection, ordering, processing, and curation of resources, while fostering a collaborative learning environment that inspires children to read for a variety of purposes and empowers them as skilled, open-hearted learners. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, collaborating with teachers to design and execute curriculum in information evaluation and research, coordinating with homeroom teachers and advisors to support media literacy and digital citizenship, and providing leadership on the selection and ethical use of digital resources. The School Librarian also manages the school's annual book fair and Battle of the Books program, and serves as a representative of SEA at after-hours events and activities determined in collaboration with division directors and guided by school needs. In addition to these responsibilities, the School Librarian supports community initiatives and contributes to the full life of the school community.

Excellent candidates will have an outstanding record working with early childhood, elementary, and/or middle school-aged students. The ability to be collaborative, detail-oriented, and innovative is essential. Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication are expected. The candidate must model and champion the school's core values including an overt commitment to inclusion and belonging for all members of the school's diverse community.

Librarians with strong content knowledge, a passion for cultivating young readers and researchers, and dedication to building meaningful relationships with students in a highly collaborative environment shaped by strong core values will enjoy this professional opportunity. A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
