Job summary

St. Landry Parish School Board is seeking a School Food Service Technician Substitute to support high‑quality, nutritious meals for students and staff in an Opelousas school kitchen. Immediate start, 180‑day term, salary in line with the district schedule.

The role involves preparing and serving meals, following recipes, and ensuring safety and sanitation. Applicants should have at least a ninth‑grade education, food service experience (preferred), ServSafe eligibility, and First Aid/CPR

Qualifications

• Completion of the ninth grade.
• Minimum of one year of food service experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain ServSafe training certification.
• Satisfactory completion of Red Cross First Aid Course including CPR within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Work in an assigned school kitchen to efficiently prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established procedures and state regulations.
• Prepare food according to the planned menu and follow recipes to ensure proper nutrition.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures for safety and quality.
• Operate food service equipment safely and report malfunctions.
• Set up lines for mealtimes and serve food in appropriate portions.
• Maintain sanitary prep, service, and storage areas; sanitize equipment and utensils.
• Follow procedures for stocking and storing USDA commodities and supplies.
• Participate in training sessions to address professional learning needs.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
