Job summary

Springfield City School District’s Roosevelt Middle School seeks a Cook Helper/Cashier (6 hpd) for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports daily food service operations, follows safety procedures, and handles cashier duties for students and staff.

The position works Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–2:00 pm, with a starting wage of $18.68 per hour and a $1,500 signing bonus paid in November. Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent and adaptability to a school setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a volume production kitchen environment preferred.
• Be flexible with work schedule and participate in professional development.
• Willing to serve on teams.
• Ability to relate to and teach students from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm in the role.

Responsibilities

• Takes direction from Head Cook in the assigned kitchen.
• Prepares food per SOPs to safely feed students and staff.
• Adheres to cashier standards of operations, reporting, and maintenance.
• Complies with all regulatory agency requirements.
• Operates equipment according to SOPs for safety and efficiency.
• Acts as a school contact for issues and reports to Head Cook promptly.
• Helps prepare monthly inventory under Head Cook supervision.
• Completes daily/weekly/monthly paperwork as required.
• Ensures safe receiving, storage, rotation, and disposition of food and supplies.
• Works as cashier on a regular basis or as needed.
