Job summary

The Auburn School Department Nutrition Program in Auburn, Maine is seeking a Kitchen Assistant Spare to support daily meal preparation and service for the central and satellite sites. Immediate start with a focus on accuracy and safety in food handling.

You will work with school staff to ensure timely meal service, participate in cashier training, and uphold the HAACP protocol while maintaining clean work areas and proper attire.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates an attitude of flexibility in work assignments.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Interacts well with students and staff.
• Kitchen experience preferred.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and efficiently.
• Follow instructions with a focus on accuracy for safe meal preparation and state reporting.

Responsibilities

• Arrives and leaves work at appointed times.
• Work in collaboration with the team at Auburn Middle School in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner
• Cashier training
• Wash dishes, fill flatware stations, load milk, prepare meals, serve and daily clean up as assigned by manager.
• Help replenish the food as needed
• Adhere to Auburn School Department’s HAACP plan and follow strict protocols with cleaning and sanitizing including arriving to work in clean clothes,
• Work together with staff at Auburn Middle School to check in and put away orders safely, accurately and equitably.
• Complete required (six) professional development hours annually at the dates and times set by the Nutrition Director.
• Other duties as assigned.
