Job summary

Lawton Public Schools Police Department seeks an Investigator/Detective to conduct and coordinate criminal investigations on school property and at district events. The role protects students, staff, and visitors while preparing cases for prosecuting authorities.

The position requires extensive sworn-law-enforcement experience, CLEET certification, and the ability to work independently under Oklahoma law and district policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least seven years of sworn law enforcement experience; prior investigation experience preferred.
• Current CLEET certification or eligibility to obtain and maintain certification.
• Valid Oklahoma driver license and insurable driving record.
• Ability to possess and carry a firearm and meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Receive and evaluate reports of criminal activity; develop investigative plans and pursue lawful leads.
• Investigate assigned cases including crimes against persons or property and school-safety matters.
• Interview victims, witnesses, students, employees, suspects, and others using trauma-informed and legally compliant methods.
• Process crime scenes; collect, preserve, and document evidence; maintain chain of custody.
• Prepare and present reports, affidavits, and case documentation to authorities.
