Job summary

The Town of Fairfield seeks a Public Health Nurse to support school health programs. Reporting to the Nurse Supervisor, you provide direct care, health education, guidance, and consultation to students, families and staff in alignment with state and local policies and the Fairfield Public Nurses Union.

Responsibilities include health assessments, immunizations, first aid, referral coordination, disease surveillance, and health education.

Qualifications

• RN license or eligible to obtain one
• 1 year of nursing experience within the last five years

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in the school setting
• Counsel and educate students, families and staff
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up with healthcare providers
• Administer medications per state regulations and school policy
• Maintain accurate health records and immunization documentation
• Participate in health planning, classroom health education and staff training
