Job summary

Newton County Schools is seeking a School Health Specialist in Covington, GA to serve as a liaison between Health Services and school nurses, delivering health care services and training across the district.

The role requires licensure as a Practical Nurse (RN preferred) with a preference for a Bachelor’s degree and two years of school nursing experience. The position handles health records, immunizations, and mentoring of staff, with a focus on confidentiality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (Registered Nurse preferred).
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
• Two years’ experience as a school nurse (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide medical training and services to school nurses.
• Provide training to teachers and staff on universal precautions and medical procedures.
• Communicate school health policies.
• Assist with immunization records reviews and screenings.
• Monitor accuracy of health records in SIS and support standardized medication administration.
• Coordinate scoliosis screening and staff training as needed.
• Develop standardized procedures and referrals for health services.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
