Job summary

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) seeks a Supervisor of Health Services to lead nursing staff and health assistants across assigned schools. You will coordinate the health services program and provide consultative leadership to ensure high-quality student health support.

The role requires an RN with Maryland licensure, CPR certification, and several years in school or community health, with leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college.
• Active and unrestricted Maryland RN license; CPR certification.
• Four years of community or school health nursing experience; at least two years in leadership roles.
• Master’s degree or Nationally Certified School Nurse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates Health Services staff.
• Provides orientation for nurses and health assistants to the school health services program.
• conducts certification and re-certification courses for unlicensed personnel as needed.
• Provides staff development and orientation for Health Services staff and other HCPSS staff as needed.
• Provides consultative services to health services staff, school staff, administrators, central office staff, and external service providers.
• Revises Health Services procedures as needed and in accordance with appropriate timelines.
• Assists the Coordinator of Health Services in the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of the health services program.
• Serves as the Health Services representative and participates in student conferences and meetings.
• Participates in MSDE, MDH, and HCHD meetings and initiatives and implements applicable programs and requirements.
