Job summary

Norman Public Schools is seeking a 26/27 Registered Nurse - Supervisor to oversee health programs for students. The role requires an active Oklahoma nursing license and the State of Oklahoma school nurse certification.

Ideal candidates have a BSN and at least 3 years of nursing experience, including work with children or students with disabilities. The contract runs 190 days and reports to the Health Services Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Current Nursing License from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
• Current School Nurse Standard Certificate by the State of Oklahoma.
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing related experience.
• Previous work or volunteer experience with children, teenagers and or students with disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the health programs and related needs of the students.
• Participate in placement meetings when appropriate.
• Conduct health screenings and make appropriate referrals.
• Report to parents and school personnel information pertinent to health care.
• Administer medications in accordance with State Laws and Board of Education Policy.
• Attend meetings and conferences regarding health services.
• Authorize exclusion and readmission of students with infectious and contagious conditions according to Norman Public Schools Guidelines.
• Prepare and submit reports as necessary.
• Participate in School Safe, Healthy, and Fit committees.
• Provide health education to students, faculty, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
