Norman Public Schools is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide health services at Elementary and Middle Schools. The role involves managing health services, administering medications, and working with students to promote health and wellness.
The ideal candidate should hold a current Oklahoma Nursing License and have at least three years of nursing experience, particularly with children or students with disabilities. This position allows you to support the school community effectively.
Contract Length: 190 days
Work Schedule: Elementary 7:25 am to 3:25 pm; Middle 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Salary Schedule: LPN Salary Schedule
Credentials: Current Nursing License from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing; Current certification in AHA Healthcare Provider CPR/AED First Aid
Education: Graduation from an approved LPN program
Training or Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years nursing experience. Previous work and/or volunteer experience with children, teenagers, and students with disabilities is preferred. Certified American Heart Association CPR Instructor preferred.
Site: Middle or Elementary School; may travel throughout district to other locations as needed
Reports To: Director Health Services, Supervising School Nurse, Building Administrator
Under direct supervision of the assigned school nurse supervisor, the employee will implement, manage and deliver school health services to maximize health and wellness in the school community. These services will be provided in compliance with State Laws and District Policy. An incumbent in this position will follow generally standardized operating policies and procedures and may interpret policies and procedures as needed.
Contact with Others: Limited public contact beyond staff and district patrons; some interpersonal interaction with staff and parents.
Other Performance Measures: Customer service/people skills to resolve problems and provide information; adherence to safety guidelines, dress standards, attendance policies, and other work-habits; creativity and problem solving are important.
Supervision exercised: An incumbent does not supervise.
Physical/Mental Requirements And Working Conditions: This job requires frequent bending/stooping and occasional to frequent squatting/crouching, reaching above the shoulder, and pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Must operate keyboards, computers, copy machines, and medical equipment. Visual and communication requirements as described.
