Job summary

RBBCSC is seeking a Health Aide to support the Corporation Nurse in implementing a safe and healthy school environment. Availability across all schools is preferred, with flexibility to cover some or all locations.

Responsibilities include dispensing medications per orders, following health policies, and assisting with health communications. CPR/AED and First Aid certification will be provided upon hire. English communication and dependability are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be flexible with strong social skills and diplomacy in interacting with parents, staff and students.
• Dependability and good judgement; on-site training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow the guidelines established in the RBBCSC Health Services handbook regarding school policies.
• Coordinate procedures for prevention and control of communicable diseases in the school.
• Assist with creating a safe and healthy school environment in the schools.
• Dispense daily and as-needed medications per MD orders or RBBCSC protocol (with parental consent).
• Follow orders for students with Emergency Action Plans or Individual Health Plans.
• Assist the School Nurse by communicating health needs to administrators, staff, parents, and students.
• Document all student health visits.
• Fill out accident or incident reports as per RBBCSC policy.
• Maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certification (provided on hire); medical knowledge preferred.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and students.
• Provide emergency care during school hours as per policy.
• Other duties as assigned by School Nurse or principal.
