Job summary

Hickman Mills C-1 Public Schools is seeking a Health Aide to support student health services under the supervision of the School Nurse. You will assist with medication administration, feeding, and daily health tasks to keep students safe and well.

You'll work nine months aligned with the school calendar, following district policy and Individualized Health Care Plans, while maintaining professionalism and excellent communication with staff, students, and families.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant or greater.
• Physically capable of assisting students with health needs including lifting and transferring.
• Able to read and write; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Demonstrate an interest in youth and their educational welfare.
• Appearance and manner suitable as a role model for students.
• Experience in working with children in a group setting.
• Dependable, well groomed, prompt, flexible and cooperative with staff.
• Current CPR and BLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Administer medication to students per district policy and document care on health records.
• Assist students with feeding, bathrooming, and transferring as needed.
• Escort students and move them safely between areas.
• Provide care per the RN's direction and the Individualized Health Care Plan, including basic procedures as trained.
• Maintain special equipment and monitor supplies; request restocks as needed.
• Record vital statistics and notify nurse of any incidents or concerns.
• Ensure timely communication with parents regarding injuries or health issues.
• Support the nurse with paperwork and school health records.
