Job summary

Kern High School District is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial/Groundsworker for South High School. The role combines grounds maintenance, custodial tasks, and event setup with a focus on safety and clean, orderly facilities.

The successful candidate will perform duties including fence and sign maintenance, post holes, hose management, and general cleaning. A California driver’s license is required, with a DMV record submitted with the application; the position begins immediately at 8 hours daily.

Qualifications

• This position requires the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
• Knowledge of grounds keeping methods and practices; safe use, maintenance, and operation of grounds keeping tools and hand power equipment.
• Safe use and application of pesticides and herbicides for pest/weed control purposes.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work; maintain school buildings and grounds in safe, clean, orderly condition.
• Ability to read and write at a level necessary to perform duties; establish and maintain work relationships; perform heavy physical labor.

Responsibilities

• General grounds maintenance such as removing and replacing fences, posts, and signs.
• Dig posts and trenches; maintain hoses, supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Assist with custodial maintenance; set up portable bleachers for events and assemblies.
• Report unsafe hazards and conditions; may direct student assistants or temporary help.
