Job summary

Burlington Community School District is seeking a dedicated Lead Main Dish at Burlington High School in Burlington, IA to prepare and serve nutritious meals in a clean, efficient kitchen environment. You will follow standardized recipes, monitor food temperatures, manage serving lines during meal periods, and uphold health/sanitation standards while working with staff, students, and the public.

Experience in institutional cooking preferred; training in sanitation is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Completion of or ability to complete Short Course I.
• Completion of or ability to complete Sanitation Course.
• One year experience in home cooking or institutional cooking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare main dish and other items following standardized recipes.
• Monitor temperature of food on serving lines and maintain proper temperatures.
• Serve food in a pleasant, efficient, and sanitary manner.
• Maintain records as necessary to forecast quantities needed.
• Organize work so production schedule is met.
• Participate in general cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment.
• Notify manager of supplies needed and equipment maintenance.
