Job summary

Joplin Schools is seeking a Food Service substitute to support district-wide nutrition services. This 9‑month, 6.5‑hour position provides meals to students in a fast-paced school kitchen environment.

Responsibilities include preparing items, operating kitchen equipment, collecting meal funds, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards. Requires a high school diploma and previous food service experience; training may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with large-scale production preferred.
• Completion of/state DoE or School Food Service statewide training preferred

Responsibilities

• Plans the preparation of and prepares all food items.
• Operates ovens, steamers, kettles, and other kitchen equipment.
• Collects funds from meal participants and deposits funds.
• Sets up and breaks down serving lines and maintains sanitation.
• Reports inferior quality of food or faulty equipment to the appropriate authority.
