Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District is hiring for a nine-month food service role aligned with the school calendar. The position supports daily meal service, food preparation, and POS operations for breakfast and lunch in the district cafeteria.

The role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and adherence to nutrition standards. Work hours run 8:30am–1:30pm, about 5 hours daily, with an hourly rate of $15.89. Benefits follow the district work agreement and include standard district offerings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with others to encourage and support a team atmosphere.
• Process strong communication skills and customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform general work connected with the operation of food service, which includes food preparation and handling, as assigned.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Assume responsibility of washing and drying pots, pans, trays, and silverware by approved methods.
• Serve as POS for breakfast and lunch, verifying a reimbursable meal was served.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
• Attend work as scheduled and arrive on time fully prepared to begin work.
