Job summary

Houston County Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain building security, cleanliness, and overall facility upkeep. The role includes floor care, restroom supplies, classroom and office cleaning, and assisting with events as needed.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior custodial experience, with willingness to meet background clearance requirements. Position follows district schedule and non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in custodial work preferred.
• Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains building security and policing grounds.
• Cleaning, sweeping, dry mopping floors.
• Cleaning and restocking of restrooms and restroom fixtures.
• Cleaning classrooms and offices, vacuuming carpeted areas, dusting furniture and office machines.
• Cleaning of windows and window sills and removal of debris from the building(s).
• Responsible for buffing/burnishing, stripping, and refinishing of hard surface floors.
• Shampooing, spotting, and extracting carpet.
• Light bulb replacement, HVAC filter service, and other project work.
• Performs and/or assists in an event or special program set-ups and assists faculty and staff as time permits.
