Job summary

Rahway Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial General for a 12-month, 40-hour work week, with a 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. schedule. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and offers benefits under the district agreement. A Black Seal Boiler License is preferred or obtainable within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the basic principles of construction.
• Must be able to maintain physical stamina for lifting, standing, crawling and weather conditions.
• Must adhere to safety practices and district procedures for cleaning products and equipment.
• Clear, proactive communication with students, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Term of Employment: 12 months, 40 hours per week.
• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Salary in accordance with negotiated agreement; minimum starting salary $65,531 (Step 1).
• Respond to emergency situations as needed and maintain facility safety and cleanliness.
• Support professional development and ongoing district safety procedures.
