Job summary

Tuscarawas Valley Local School District in Zoarville, Ohio is seeking a Custodian to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of designated school buildings. Position is full-time and reports to the Building Principal with guidance from the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and custodial experience, with adherence to district policies and drug/alcohol rules. Occasional after-hours events and safety trainings are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Equivalent of a high school diploma.
• Skill and experience in maintenance and/or custodial work.
• A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
• Complies with the Board’s drug and alcohol policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the cleanliness of assigned buildings and areas.
• Responds promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies in assigned buildings and areas.
• Assists in the setup and tear down of building activities and events.
• Completes minor maintenance repairs, including painting, plumbing, electrical issues.
• Safely operates district equipment, machinery, HVAC, and security systems, and vehicles.
• Reports maintenance issues or major repairs to the Building Principal and supervisor.
• Regularly checks e-mail for directives from supervisor.
• Performs all assigned duties and tasks.
• Assists with unloading, storing, and inventory check of deliveries.
• Oversees inventory of custodial equipment and reports needs to supervisor.
• Participates in health and safety trainings.
• Reports instances of suspected child abuse to law enforcement.
• Complies with District policies and procedures.
• Performs other functions as assigned.
• Serves as a role model for students.
