Job summary

Portsmouth School District is seeking a Custodian at Portsmouth Middle School to perform general cleaning and maintenance in school facilities. The role includes maintaining equipment, assisting students and staff, and supporting events as needed.

Under supervision, duties cover cleaning, minor repairs, building security, and report of problems. Prior cleaning/maintenance experience and a high school diploma are desirable requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to perform duties.
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable.
• State Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain orderly appearance in assigned buildings and grounds.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs as needed (e.g., window/lock painting).
• Check doors/windows for security when building is unoccupied or during events.
• Set up equipment for special events as requested.
• Report problems to supervisor promptly and assist custodial or maintenance tasks as needed.
