Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Possess and maintain valid driver’s license.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under applicable Alabama acts.
• Ability to work in heights or confined spaces and in various environments.
• Demonstrated skills with custodial tools, materials, methods.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods for floors, walls, fixtures, and basic repairs.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work with others.
• Ability to read and follow plans for custodial projects.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and estimate time/materials.
• Ability to climb and work from scaffolding and ladders.
• Prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching.
• Lift up to 50 pounds; exert up to 75 pounds of force.
• Work after hours, weekends, holidays if needed.
• Be punctual and attend regularly.
• Such alternative qualifications may be required by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Supports the school system in providing a clean, safe learning environment.
• Performs custodial tasks to balance operations and preventive care.
• Operates cleaning equipment and cares for lawns, plants, floors and fixtures.
• Delivers supplies and moves furniture as directed.
• Maintains safety by using proper equipment and following procedures.
• Inspects facilities for safety hazards and reports needs.
• Responds to emergencies (spills, breaks) per procedures.
• Keeps inventory and reports supply needs for bathrooms and cleaning products.
• Keeps records and communicates effectively with staff and vendors.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to policies and laws.
