Job summary

Southern Tioga School District is seeking a Custodian at Warren L Miller Elementary School to perform general cleaning and maintenance, secure the building and assist students, staff and visitors. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and supporting safety and cleanliness across classrooms and common areas.

The role requires ability to follow work orders, operate cleaning gear, and work at multiple locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required or acceptable education.
• Previous cleaning/maintenance experience is desirable.
• State vehicle license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Checks and secures building at beginning and end of shift.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms and offices to district standards.
• Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips and waxes floors.
• Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstery.
• Washes walls, ceilings, windows, doors and sills.
• Removes graffiti, cleans glass areas.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables and equipment for meetings.
• Clears snow from entrances and walks; spreads sand and ice-melting chemicals.
• Performs grounds-keeping duties and maintains grounds.
• Receives deliveries and assists in unloading trucks and storing supplies.
