Job summary

LEARN Charter School Network is hiring a School Facilities Assistant for our DC campus. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students and staff, including cleaning, basic maintenance, and event setup/teardown.

The position requires a high school diploma, own tools, and a proactive service mindset. You will work on site across the DC campus, supporting routine repairs and safety procedures while ensuring security and cleanliness throughout the

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• Must have own tools
• Meticulous about cleanliness standards and takes full ownership of building appearance
• Experience in building/facility operations, understanding of janitorial, maintenance, and construction efforts
• Adheres to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipment
• Demonstrated experience performing minor repair and maintenance work
• Must be extremely service-oriented, proactive, and pay strong attention to detail
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics: good organizational, verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Cleaning Functions: Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, refinish floors, wash windows, clean restrooms, change light bulbs, dispose of trash and dust furniture
• Pick up litter on school grounds and ensure safety during inclement weather including snow removal and de-icing
• Apply cleaning chemicals according to safety procedures and store supplies properly
• Perform minor painting and basic repairs to walls, rails, and furnishings
• Maintain equipment and grounds (mowing, watering, trimming hedges, leaves) and secure building
• Initiate maintenance service requests and secure equipment against loss or theft
• Ensure building security at all times and display ethical professional behavior
