Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Safety Health or related field.
• AHERA Inspector License and AHERA Project Designer License issued by MDE.
• Five years of environmental/industrial hygiene assessment experience (asbestos surveys, water sampling, mold/moisture).
• Master’s degree preferred in related fields.
• AHERA Supervisor License and AHERA Management Planner License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental assessments, inspections, and investigations of school buildings and grounds to identify conditions that may affect health and safety, including IAQ, moisture, mold, and hazardous materials.
• Coordinate environmental management programs (asbestos, lead, hazardous materials, water quality) in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
• Coordinate environmental sampling, monitoring, testing, and abatement activities; review laboratory results and contractor documentation; document findings and required actions.
• Conduct compliance inspections and audits; maintain environmental records; assist with OSHA/EPA/local requirements compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to administrators, facilities staff, contractors, and stakeholders regarding environmental hazards and corrective actions.
• Develop technical reports, procedures, training materials, and presentations; provide staff training as needed.
• Respond to environmental emergencies and assist with investigations, risk assessments, and project coordination.
