Job summary

Capac Community School District in Capac, Michigan, seeks a District Business Manager to direct the district's fiscal functions, including budgeting, accounting, and internal controls.

Reporting to the Superintendent, this year-round, per-contract role supervises business office staff, manages cash and debt, prepares financial statements, and coordinates with the external auditor to maintain compliance with GASB and state reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of related accounting/financial leadership experience preferred; school environment preferred.
• Possess or be willing to obtain Michigan School Business Officials CFO/Business Manager certification.
• Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications needed for job functions.
• Clear criminal history, physical, and drug test; first aid training.
• Alternatives to qualifications may be considered by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Invest district funds to generate investment income per PA-20 and policies.
• Conduct financial analysis of budgets, revenues, and expenditures.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for the Board of Education.
• Develop and prepare district budgets and Board presentation materials.
• Manage district accounting and payroll functions.
• Improve internal controls and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee debt service and cash flow planning; borrowing as needed.
• Coordinate with external auditor for annual financial reports and compliance.
