Job summary

Volusia County Schools is seeking a Custodian at Mainland High School to maintain a clean and safe environment for students and staff. Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking facilities, operating custodial equipment, and responding to emergencies as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (preferred), willingness to attend on-the-job training, and availability for after-hours shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must attend on-the-job training sessions.
• Available after working hours for emergency/disaster duties.
• Available for scheduled shift work.
• Prior custodian experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assure the safety of children comes first.
• Perform cleaning and sanitizing according to the Custodial Services Handbook and district requirements.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment per handbook and manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain cleanliness of facilities including classrooms, offices, cafeteria, gym, restrooms, and related areas.
• Restock and maintain restroom supplies; replace lightbulbs as needed.
• Pressure wash campus sidewalks and exterior of buildings.
• Report hazards and follow district procedures; wear designated uniform.
• Work flexible shifts, including evenings/weekends; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Operate school board vehicles when assigned; participate in all required trainings.
