Job summary

Volusia County Schools is seeking a Custodial Shift Leader to maintain a clean, safe school environment at Ormond Beach Middle School. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring safety, and performing extensive cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Position requires on-call availability, the ability to operate district vehicles, and adherence to OSHA guidelines. Hours are 8 per day, 12 months, with duties spanning evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent certificate.
• Two years prior experience as a custodian shift leader or supervisor.
• Must complete on-the-job training sessions.
• Must pass tests on cleaning chemicals, procedures, carpet and hard surface care.
• On-call availability for emergency/disaster team.
• Scheduled shift work is required.
• Must operate school board vehicles per policy.

Responsibilities

• Ensure child safety is the top priority.
• Clean and sanitize facilities per district requirements.
• Use cleaning chemicals per instructions and safety rules.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment.
• Manage trash, recyclables, and energy programs.
• Clean and maintain floors, classrooms, offices, cafeterias, gym, restrooms, and other areas.
• Restock restrooms and replace lightbulbs when needed.
• Perform minor repairs and painting touch-ups.
• Move, assemble, and arrange furniture and equipment.
• Pressure wash campus surfaces as required.
• Supervise custodial staff on shift and train as needed.
• Document work orders and complete reports.
