Job summary

Moravia Community School District is seeking a dedicated Janitor/Custodian to maintain clean, safe facilities that support student learning and community use. Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and common areas, performing routine maintenance, and assisting with events while ensuring a welcoming environment for students and staff.

The role requires the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, operate standard cleaning equipment safely, and work independently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior custodial, cleaning, maintenance, or building-services experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, safety data sheets, product labels, and district procedures.
• Ability to safely use common custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor machines, mops, cleaning tools, hand tools, and ladders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize duties, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, entrances, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, dust, and disinfect floors, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
• Empty trash and recycling; refill restroom supplies and maintain supplies.
• Assist with snow/ice removal, deliveries, and setup for events.
• Follow all safety procedures, secure doors and windows, and report hazards.
