Job summary

Bremerton School District 100-C is seeking a reliable custodian to perform cleaning and housekeeping, ensuring building security and readiness for use. Duties include operating cleaning equipment, maintaining floors and fixtures, and assisting with event setups.

The role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, basic reading and math for MSDS and chemical mixing, and strong reliability and teamwork. Applicants should be prepared for shift variations within the district facilities.

Qualifications

• Prior custodial experience or successful trial period as a substitute custodian.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and write and understand math to interpret MSDS and in mixing chemicals.
• Ability to read and comprehend labels, instructions and written directions.
• Must be able to lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
• Must have neat and clean appearance upon arrival to work.

Responsibilities

• Learn all custodial functions including proper chemical handling and equipment operation.
• Open buildings and prepare them for use; maintain building security when not in use.
• Use power equipment and hand tools for cleaning and maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
• Clean and sanitize toilets/shower rooms and fixtures; dust, sweep, mop, and polish floors.
• Set up and remove furniture for events; may climb ladders and replace light bulbs and restroom supplies.
• Read and interpret instructions, service orders, and labels on chemicals.
• Perform related work as assigned.
