Job summary

ABM is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties across designated areas at a K-12 or higher education campus. You will sweep, mop, dust, empty trash, and maintain restrooms while following safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred qualifications include prior customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, mop floors and remove debris in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators and managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, and equipment to access areas.
• Clean interior glass, windows, partitions and mirrors with appropriate cleaners.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, and perform seasonal tasks as needed.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and polish as needed.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance and quality standards and procedures.
