Job summary

Brenham ISD is seeking a dedicated custodian to perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds and to provide custodial support to students, teachers, and staff. The role involves securing facilities, cleaning multiple areas, and assisting with deliveries and event setup.

The position requires the ability to read, write and speak English fluently, and a high school diploma or equivalent is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in building cleaning maintenance desirable.
• State motor vehicle license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Checks and secures building at beginning and end of shift for safety and cleanliness.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways and other areas per district standards.
• Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips and waxes floors.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstery and blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills.
• Removes graffiti and cleans glass areas.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms and functional rooms.
• Clears snow and spreads sand and ice-melting chemicals.
• Performs grounds-keeping duties and maintains grounds.
• Receives deliveries and assists in unloading trucks and storing supplies.
• Delivers supplies to classrooms and other areas.
• Empties wastebaskets and participates in recycling program.
• Performs general cleaning and repair work during school vacations.
• Assists parents and visitors at school events.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
