Job summary

Lovington Municipal Schools is seeking a Custodian to provide a clean and safe learning environment for students. The role involves cleaning interior spaces, maintaining exterior grounds, and ensuring building security and safety across the campus.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED (preferred), and may possess prior custodial experience. A NM driver's license is required for vehicle operation associated with the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work with large numbers of co-workers, students, and staff and maintain a positive attitude.
• Prefer experience in custodial work or related field.
• Valid New Mexico driver's license for operating vehicles of the size required of this position.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

• Clean interior of assigned school building.
• Maintain exterior of buildings and grounds in such a manner so they are free of trash and debris.
• Water and care for lawn areas as directed.
• Report electrical and mechanical problems of the building to the Maintenance office.
• Order, stock, and maintain adequate levels of supplies in the building.
• Assume responsibility for building security.
• Assume responsibility for fire safety of the building.
• Perform emergency minor repair and cleaning as necessary.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and students.
• Wear protective ware as directed when cleaning up body fluids.
• Respond to the needs of the Principal and staff of the building.
• Use all chemicals exactly as directed by container labels.
