Job summary

Washington County TN School District is seeking a Custodian at Grandview Elementary School to perform general cleaning, maintenance, and custodial tasks under supervision. This role supports students, staff and visitors by maintaining a clean, safe school environment.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with prior cleaning/maintenance experience preferred. Responsibilities include floor care, restrooms, and assisting with events and deliveries on site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or completion of related experience to perform duties.
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable.

Responsibilities

• Checks and secures building at beginning and end of shift for safety and cleanliness.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways and other areas per district standards.
• Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips, and waxes floors.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills.
• Removes graffiti and cleans glass areas.
• Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms.
• Clears snow from entrances and walks and spreads ice melting chemicals.
• Performs grounds-keeping duties and maintains grounds.
• Receives deliveries and assists in unloading trucks and storing supplies.
• Delivers supplies to classrooms and other areas of the building.
• Empties wastebaskets and assists in recycling program.
• Performs general cleaning and repair work, especially during vacations.
