Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relations with other employees and school system personnel.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of custodial duties, including lifting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing a ladder.
• Ability to learn repetitive tasks and perform them under supervision.
• Working knowledge of methods and materials essential to good housekeeping and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, clean, and efficient environment.
• Keep buildings, sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat, clean, and safe at all times.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, dewax, and wax floors; clean blinds, windows, fixtures, walls, carpet, and restrooms.
• Sweep classrooms and empty waste containers daily; clean corridors after school and as needed.
• Disinfect restroom floors daily; clean all sanitary fixtures daily.
• Check equipment daily and report damage to the principal.
• Remain on school premises during scheduled hours and for authorized activities as needed.
• Move furniture and equipment as directed by lead custodian or principal.
• Comply with laws on storage/disposal of trash and follow directives from administration.
