Job summary

ANSONIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS seeks a School Custodian for 2nd shift. The role involves cleaning designated spaces, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety and order in the facilities.

Reports to the Director of Facilities; start date TBD. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to read safety/maintenance instructions, and strong communication with students, staff and the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Clear communication with students, parents, staff and community.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
• Adherence to district requirements and Board of Education policies.
• Overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests from Director of Facilities and/or administration.
• Clean and monitor designated spaces and equipment; sweep, vacuum, mop, rubbish removal.
• Clean and disinfect bathroom sinks, toilets, urinals and mirrors.
• Check supplies and keep stocked (soap, towels, tissue).
• Replace light bulbs and secure premises; manage alarm systems.
• Maintain custodial equipment and assist with freight delivery as needed.
• Move classroom furniture and perform basic maintenance and painting as needed.
• Assist with snow removal and other duties as assigned.
