Job Summary Details:

The School Custodian performs general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college, or university campus environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior customer service experience
• One (1) year of prior similar work experience

Responsibilities:

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas
• Check and empty trash receptacles regularly in all designated areas
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage
• Report repairs or issues to the lead cleaner or manager
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and managers
• Separate and recycle waste appropriately
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas
• Move furniture and equipment for cleaning purposes
• Clean interior glass, windows, partitions, and mirrors
• Perform seasonal tasks like raking leaves, mowing, and snow removal
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and polish fixtures as needed
• Comply with all safety, security, and regulatory standards
