Maarif School in Wayne, New Jersey, is hiring a full-time janitor for the 2027–2028 academic year. This role maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and the overall appearance of school facilities to create a healthy, organized environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas.
• Perform daily cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and trash removal.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and replenish soap, paper products, and other supplies.
• Clean windows, doors, furniture, floors, and other surfaces according to established schedules.
• Perform periodic deep cleaning, carpet cleaning, and floor maintenance.
• Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and unexpected cleaning needs.
• Follow proper sanitation, infection-control, and workplace safety procedures.
• Inspect facilities and report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, and safety hazards.
• Perform minor authorized maintenance tasks and basic facility repairs when trained.
• Assist with room setups, cleaning, and preparations for school events and meetings.
• Support seasonal cleaning projects and school preparation before and after the academic year.
• Properly store and secure cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
• Assist with securing designated building areas according to school procedures.
• Maintain cleaning records and report supply needs when required.
• Work collaboratively with school administration and staff to maintain a clean and organized campus.
• Perform other custodial and facility-related duties as assigned.

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual to maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of our school facilities, ensuring a healthy and organized environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous janitorial, custodial, or building maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment, including vacuums and floor-cleaning machines.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage assigned tasks efficiently.
