Job summary

Cherry Creek School District is seeking a School Crossing Guard to help students and staff stay safe near school zones. You will direct pedestrians and vehicles at crossings, using STOP paddles and clear signals to manage traffic during arrival and dismissal times.

The role requires attentiveness, the ability to stand for extended periods, and adherence to district safety policies, including DOT guidelines and background checks. This is a non-exempt, hourly position with a focus on public safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet Colorado Department of Transportation minimum qualifications and pass background checks.
• Intermediate knowledge of bicycle/pedestrian safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Direct or escort pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic as needed.
• Monitor traffic flow to locate safe crossing gaps.
• Communicate traffic rules to students and adults.
• Distribute traffic control signs and markers at designated points.
• Direct traffic movement or warn of hazards using signs, flags, lanterns, and hand signals.
• Report incidents involving students to the building principal.
• Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals, and report infractions to appropriate supervisor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
