Job summary

Mt. Lebanon Police Department seeks seasonally employed crossing guards (part-time, non-sworn) to assist elementary and middle school students with safe crossings.

Duties include managing traffic gaps, assembling pedestrians, instructing them, and reporting unsafe conditions. Requires HS diploma or GED and PA Driver's License; background checks will be conducted.

Candidates will wear the school guard uniform and must maintain punctuality at posts; training sessions may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid PA Driver's License required.
• Must pass PA State Police Criminal History, Child Abuse Clearance, and Federal Criminal History checks after hiring.

Responsibilities

• Expedite the movement of children to and from school at posts during gaps in traffic.
• Assemble children and pedestrians behind curb lines awaiting traffic lulls or signal changes.
• Stop traffic and instruct pedestrians to cross safely.
• Instruct children in proper crossing procedures.
• Report non-compliant students to municipal officials.
• Report unsafe conditions or hazards to supervisor.
• Wear the entire school guard uniform.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at designated post.
