Job summary

Beverly Public Schools is seeking a Crossing Guard to assist students crossing streets before and after school, ensuring safety and orderly procedures. Guard duties include monitoring traffic, using stop signs, and promoting pedestrian safety in designated school areas.

Responsibilities require weather readiness, punctuality, and professionalism in daily operations, with background checks and compliance with district policies. Part-time, school-year schedule with approx. 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, school staff and the public.
• Ability to remain attentive and exercise sound judgment in a traffic environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist students at assigned crossings before and after school.
• Monitor traffic flow and use crossing procedures to ensure pedestrian safety.
• Stop and direct traffic as needed in accordance with local and state regulations.
• Promote safe walking habits and reinforce pedestrian safety rules with students.
• Remain alert to unsafe conditions and report concerns or hazards.
• Demonstrate professionalism and positive interactions with students, families, staff and community members.
