The City of Raleigh is seeking School Crossing Guards to help create a safe environment for students traveling to and from school. This part-time, seasonal non-sworn role involves directing traffic and assisting pedestrians at designated school crossings in Raleigh.

Ideal candidates are dependable, attentive, and committed to public safety while delivering courteous service to students, parents, and the community.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; no prior experience needed.
• Knowledge of basic traffic laws and pedestrian signals is expected.

Responsibilities

• Use a stop paddle and/or pedestrian signal to stop traffic.
• Safely walk from curb to street center at designated locations.
• Understand traffic signs, signals, and basic road rules.
• Observe unsafe traffic conditions and report them to the coordinator.
• Serve as a positive role model and provide school crossing safety information.
