Job summary

Pinkerton Academy is seeking a crossing guard to safely assist staff and students crossing public roadways in the morning and afternoon. The role involves standing at a crosswalk, signaling traffic, and coordinating safe passage along school routes.

Shifts are weekdays with two blocks: 6:45 am–7:15 am and 1:45 pm–2:15 pm, generally September to June. The position emphasizes reliability, punctuality, and safe crossing procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand and hand signal traffic for 30-minute increments.
• Working during inclement weather is required.
• Strong interpersonal and reliability punctuality are required.

Responsibilities

• Stand along the roadway at a crosswalk.
• Identify when students/staff wish to cross the roadway.
• Before entering the roadway, look left and right to ensure it is safe.
• Activate signaling devices to alert traffic to stop.
• Escort students and staff into the roadway.
• Release traffic when it is safe to proceed.
