Job Summary:

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS:

As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience: High School diploma or general education diploma (GED) required
  • Must have physical ability to perform the functions of the job
  • Selected candidates will receive Crossing Guard Training and must pass the training and practical courses to receive a Crossing Guard Certificate within a designated time frame
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledge of traffic regulations
  • Ability and willingness to work outside in inclement weather
  • Willingness to work with children, parents, and community in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Environment: 100% outside which may include driving. Must be willing to work outside in adverse weather conditions.

Physical Requirements: The essential functions of the job require: standing approximately four (4) hours per day, and walking approximately four (4) hours per day. The work requires frequent: bending/stooping, climbing, crawling, fine manipulations, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 15 pounds.

Sensory Requirements: Hearing: Enough to hear emergency vehicles, cars, and children's conversations. Speaking: Enough to communicate instructions to students in elementary, middle and high school. Seeing: Enough to see oncoming traffic, the color of the traffic light, and pedestrian signals. Depth perception is important.
