Job summary

Marblehead Public Schools seeks a School Counselor for a temporary leave replacement from early October to mid/late December at the Lucretia & Joseph Brown Elementary School in Marblehead, MA. The role focuses on supporting students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic growth within a safe, inclusive, and joyful school community.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Counseling or related field and MA School Counselor certification; two years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Guidance, Human Services, School Psychology, or Social Work.
  • Massachusetts Certification as a School Counselor, School Adjustment Counselor, Guidance Counselor, School Social Worker, or School Psychologist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling check-ins and support for students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs
  • Build trusting relationships that help students feel safe, heard, supported, and valued
  • Support students in developing coping strategies, emotional regulation, self-advocacy, and problem-solving skills
  • Assist students with peer relationships, school adjustment, and conflict resolution
  • Plan and facilitate small group counseling sessions focused on: social skills development, organization and study skills, emotional regulation and coping strategies, friendship skills and conflict resolution, additional identified student needs
  • Teach SEL lessons across Grades PreK-3, including our therapeutic classroom
  • Collaborate with teachers to support SEL implementation within classrooms and daily routines
  • Provide teachers with SEL resources, strategies, and classroom support
  • Help promote a positive and inclusive school culture
  • Partner closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify and support student needs
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians through meetings, phone calls, and ongoing updates
  • Participate in student support meetings and team-based problem-solving discussions
  • Collaborate with outside agencies and providers to coordinate services and supports for students
  • Participate in and support the implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans
  • Support accommodations and interventions aligned with student support plans and school expectations
  • Attend team meetings, student support meetings, and related service discussions

The Lucretia and Joseph Brown Elementary School is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of School Counselor for a Temporary Leave replacement from the Early October until mid/late-December.
