Job summary

Diagnostic Assessment Services, Inc. is seeking a part-time Counselor in Dallas, TX to support students’ behavioral, emotional, and social needs within schools. Duties include school-based counseling, crisis intervention, and planning behavioral supports with families and educators.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in Counseling or Social Work and Texas licensure; two years of relevant experience preferred. Terrain coverage includes multiple Dallas areas and surrounding cities.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in providing counseling services to children or adolescents.
• Able to work with interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; flexible schedule.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Competency in MS Office and video conferencing; able to learn additional software.
• Effective communication with parents, students, staff and community.
• Knowledge of mental health law as it pertains to schools.

Responsibilities

• Counsel individual students and small groups presenting needs and concerns within the general education and special education environment.
• Provide crisis intervention services.
• Consultations with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people relating to intervention strategies.
• Conduct mental and behavioral health assessments, develop evaluations, and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Compile, maintain, and file all required reports and documents.
• Comply with policies, laws, and licensure requirements.
• Maintain positive relationships with supervisors, colleagues, parents, and students.
• Adhere to ethical and legal standards; maintain confidentiality.
