SCHOOL COUNSELOR - GRADES 10-12

QUALIFICATIONS:

N.J. Certificate: School Counselor

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the components of a comprehensive developmental counseling program, child growth and development, strategies for effective career and educational planning, learning assessment and diagnosis, research related to learning, and the resources available in the school and community to assist secondary students
• Experience withcollege and career readiness process for students
• Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and sensitive interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and educators
• Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and resources
• Experience working with educational software platforms
• Broad knowledge of testing and evaluation, theories of individual and group counseling techniques, elementary/secondary school counseling program design, and career educational information and placement
• Knowledge of computerized master schedule development, preferred
• Experience managing student database systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace
• Experience working with at-risk students
• Must be able to perform physical work which requires frequent bending and lifting
