Role Description

This full-time, on-site role is located in Carlisle, PA and combines responsibilities as a School Counselor and 2nd Grade Teacher. The individual in this position will plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction to 2nd grade students, assess student progress, and differentiate learning to meet varied needs. In the counseling capacity, the role includes providing social-emotional support, individual and small-group counseling, and guidance lessons that promote positive behavior, resilience, and academic success. The position also involves collaborating with families, teachers, and support staff to address student needs, support mental health, and facilitate referrals to appropriate services when necessary. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, contributing to school-wide initiatives, participating in professional development, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom and school environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Student Counseling and general Counseling to support social-emotional and behavioral needs.
• Experience or training in Psychology and Mental Health to understand child development and support overall well-being.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate Career Counseling and guidance to help students begin exploring interests and strengths.
• Valid teaching certification appropriate for elementary/2nd grade and, preferably, certification as a school counselor (or eligibility to obtain).
• Experience working with elementary-aged students in classroom and/or counseling settings.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills with students, families, and colleagues.
• Capacity to create an inclusive, culturally responsive environment that supports diverse learners.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and adherence to ethical and confidentiality standards in education and counseling.
