Job summary

University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy in Detroit is seeking a compassionate School Counselor to provide individual and group counseling, supporting students' emotional and social development to enhance academic success.

The role requires a Master’s degree in social work (MSW) with a Michigan license or a Michigan Counselor license with a master’s degree, plus at least three years of counseling experience in educational settings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work (MSW) with a valid Michigan School Social Worker license or Michigan Counselor license with a master's degree.
• Minimum of three years of experience providing social work or counseling services.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students.
• Address social, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting students.
• Develop and implement programs to support student well-being and academic success.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student needs.
• Conduct assessments and provide referrals to external resources when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions.
• Participate in school meetings and contribute to the development of student support plans.

Type: Full time

Pay Range: $50 per hour or $45,000-$60,000/year

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students
• Address social, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting students

• Possess at least one (1) of the following:
• Master’s degree in social work (MSW) with a valid Michigan School Social Worker license, OR
• Michigan Counselor (or School Counselor) License with a master’s degree from an accredited University.
• Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience providing social work or counseling services.
• Additional Responsibilities Previous Counselor Ran & Aided. You will be in contact with previous counselor to aid in the transition
• Various Counseling topics by request of school
