Job summary

U of D Jesuit in Detroit seeks an outstanding full-time School Counselor to support Academy students (grades 7–8) and assist high school students as needed. You will help deliver a developmentally appropriate, comprehensive guidance program focused on academic success and social growth within a Jesuit mission.

The role emphasizes collaboration among counselors, faculty, staff, and parents to form well-rounded individuals prepared for college and life.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
• Valid school counseling license/certification (MI Teaching Certificate with Guidance Counselor Endorsement).
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a middle or high school setting.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities; strong collaboration skills.
• Experience with student support plans, behavioral interventions, and crisis response.

Responsibilities

• Meet with academy students regularly to monitor personal, social, and academic development.
• Advocate for students and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators.
• Collaborate with the Jesuit Academy in course selection and referrals.
• Coordinate testing and academic support activities (NWEA/MAP, HSPT) as needed.
• Maintain counseling records and contribute to program development and outcomes.
• Support crisis response and BTAM related duties as required.
